Iced Slatez
A desk pad with a mousing surface on one side and a cooling surface on the other.
The problem
The three o'clock slump is real and the desk offers nothing for it. Getting cold — a cold drink held to the neck, a wet towel, stepping outside — reliably resets a person, but none of those are on the desk at the moment they are wanted, and all of them mean stopping.
The insight
Put the reset in something that is already under your hands all day. A desk pad is the largest object on a desk and the least used — one side of it is doing nothing. Make that side the cold one, and flipping the pad becomes the whole interaction.
How it works
- One face is a precision mousing surface, for working and playing on.
- The other face is built to hold cold against skin.
- Flip the pad and press the cold side to your face or the back of your neck.
- Flip it back and carry on working.

Not yet made. No prototype of the finished pad exists.

The waitlist is live at icedslatez.com with founder pricing at $49 against a planned $79. The object itself does not exist yet — this exhibit shows the page, not a product, and it is here because being built in the open is the stated plan rather than an accident.
